Description

Lead Software Engineer - Trading Systems & Operations Technology - Buy-Side Hedge Fund -London A London hedge fund is hiring a Software Engineer into its Trading Systems and Operations Technology function. The engineering team is small and deliberately flat. Every engineer owns a business domain outright and works directly with the people who use what they build. In practice that means sitting with traders, trading assistants and operations users, understanding the problem first-hand, and owning the solution across the full development lifecycle. No delivery team to hand off to, no ticket queue between you and the desk. Your biggest projects will focus on front office trading workflows, order lifecycle management, trade capture, end-of-day processing and the operational automation around it. There is integration work across third-party OMS and PMS platforms, plus collaboration with Front Office Analytics, UI/UX and Middle Office Technology. You will also share production support for what you own. What's needed .NET and PythonSoftware engineering experience gained in financial services or capital marketsUnderstanding of financial instruments and trade lifecycle conceptsExposure to buy-side or sell-side trading environmentsEnterprise applications, APIs and distributed systemsStrong fundamentals, object-oriented design, and a real interest in trading technology Useful, not essential Fixed income, FX (spot, forwards, swaps and options), equities or commodities. Electronic trading workflows, OMS or PMS exposure, vendor platform integration via APIs or messaging, testing and CI/CD. This suits an engineer who wants markets knowledge alongside technical depth, and who would rather be close to the business than three layers removed from it.
