Summary
✨ AI‑Generated
A senior software engineering opportunity focused on building secure, cloud-native backend features and APIs with Ruby on Rails. You will independently plan and deliver production-ready functionality, maintain Rails applications and libraries, own automated testing and deployment pipelines, collaborate in agile teams, mentor colleagues, and use AI coding tools responsibly.
Highlights
Senior engineering role with ownership of production-ready backend features, APIs, integrations and delivery pipelines, plus opportunities to mentor teammates, improve engineering quality and use AI-assisted development tools.
Description
The Senior Software Engineer is a primary feature builder on SCIP, translating product and business requirements into secure, cloud-native, production-ready Ruby on Rails features while contributing to engineering quality, mentoring, and technical debt reduction across the team.
AI-assisted development is an established part of the way the team works, and this role is expected to use AI coding tools productively and responsibly as part of daily delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design, code, test, and deploy features, backend services, APIs, and integration layers for SCIP using Ruby on Rails, applying cloud-native development patterns as the default approach.Independently plan and document new and ongoing projects/features and contribute within interdisciplinary agile project teams (Scrum/Kanban).Further develop and maintain Rails Engines, Ruby Gems, and existing Rails applications.Own automated testing, build, and deployment pipelines (RSpec, GitLab CI) as part of the definition of done for every feature.Integrate security controls into the development lifecycle, including threat modelling, SAST/DAST findings, and security-by-design practices.Participate in technical design sessions and code reviews, provide architectural input, and share technical knowledge with peers.Contribute to reducing technical debt through refactoring and documentation of architectural decisions.Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code or comparable AI coding assistants) as part of the daily workflow to accelerate implementation, refactoring, test generation, and documentation while retaining full engineering accountability for reviewing, validating, and securing AI-generated code.Support knowledge transfer from current subcontractors during onboarding, particularly during Q4, to ensure continuity of SCIP-specific expertise. For one of the six positions, lead or closely support data migration efforts related to SCIP, requiring in-depth application knowledge of the SCIP product and its data structures.Required Qualifications
Multiple years of professional experience developing web/server applications in Ruby on Rails.Experience creating and extending Rails Engines and Ruby Gems.Independent management of automated testing, build, and deployment processes (RSpec, GitLab CI).Experience with agile methods and tools (Jira, Scrum/Kanban).Practical experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in a professional software development context.Fluent English. For the data migration-focused position, existing hands-on knowledge of the SCIP application and its data model.Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Familiarity with GraphQL-based web service integration.Experience with container-based development and layered architecture.API integration design experience (REST, GraphQL, gRPC contracts).Experience with data migration projects, including schema/data mapping, migration tooling, and validation.Experience defining or improving team workflows/guidelines around AI-assisted development.Skills : .NET Core WebAPI (Using MVC Core)
