Summary
✨ AI‑Generated
A senior frontend engineering role focused on building high-performance browser experiences for detailed 3D representations of large physical assets. You will work on interactive geospatial interfaces, offline-first data experiences, and annotation workflows while ensuring smooth performance on demanding hardware. The role is based in Sydney with approximately three days per week in the office and includes substantial investment in AI-assisted engineering.
Highlights
Build technically demanding 3D web experiences, optimize performance for large infrastructure models, work with geospatial and offline-first technologies, and contribute to an AI-assisted engineering roadmap.
Description
A little about us
Before we tell you about Trendspek - we first have to say, this is not your typical frontend role.
You'll be building a browser that renders entire power stations, bridges and refineries in 3D - and keeps them fast while an inspector annotates a cracked weld 40 metres up, offline, on a laptop in a site office.
Trendspek builds a precision remote-inspection platform on top of high-fidelity, 3D digital twins of real-world assets.
Our customers inspect, annotate and report on complex infrastructure without leaving their desk, powered by an interactive geospatial canvas, a local-first data layer that works at field scale, and reporting that turns inspection into decisions.
Right now, we're growing our engineering capability and investing heavily in an AI-assisted product and delivery roadmap, and we'd love for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join us!
Location: we're based in Sydney (Haymarket) and this role is in office ~3 days per week.
About your role
You'll be a senior engineer across our core product: a demanding, browser-based application built in Vue 3 and TypeScript.
The work spans real-time 3D and geospatial interfaces, offline-capable sync of large datasets, and a security-sensitive, multi-tenant platform.
You'll contribute to flagship surfaces like our V3 Inspect experience and to the projects that come after it, own features end-to-end, make architectural calls, and set the technical bar for how we build.
You'll also be one of the people helping us make AI-assisted engineering the default, not a novelty.
What you'll work on:
3D and geospatial interfaces - tilesets, splats, synced canvases, annotation workflows - and the product built on top of themThe local-first data layer: client-side replication and sync (RxDB / IndexedDB), conflict resolution, offline behaviour, fast at scalePerformance and reliability of a large SPA under real customer data volumesSecurity-conscious frontend work - pen-testing, PII handling, multi-tenant access controlCrossing into the Laravel backend when a feature needs it.
You don't stop at the API lineBuilding AI into how the team works and what they ship
What you'll do
Own significant features from spec to production.Write clear technical specs and make pragmatic calls with the trade-offs on the table.Lift the bar on testing, code review and observability (PostHog).Mentor engineers and be the technical reference point on the inspection surface.Work with Product and Design to turn ambiguous problems into shipped value.
What we're after
Strong commercial Vue 3 + TypeScript (or deep React/TS with a willingness to go all-in on Vue)A track record owning complex, stateful SPAs: real state management (Pinia or equivalent), performance work, thoughtful component architectureComfort with async data and client-side persistence - API integration, caching, keeping a rich client in syncSecurity-and quality-conscious: edge cases, auth, data exposure, failure modes, not just the happy pathAI-assisted engineering as a daily habit (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and a considered view on where it accelerates you and where human judgement still leadsSenior communication and autonomy - you can drive a piece of work and bring others with you
Nice to have
3D / WebGL / geospatial (Three.js, Cesium, deck.gl, point clouds, Gaussian splats)Offline-first architecture (RxDB, PouchDB, CRDTs)PHP / Laravel comfortCI/CD and IaC (Docker, Northflank)AI-enabled product features (LLM integration, retrieval, assistive UX)Application security practice
What's next?
If you're a FE engineer motivated by solving hard problems that aren't solved anywhere else, in a small senior team where your architectural calls actually stick, and you enjoy working on a product being used on real infrastructure by people who depend on it...
this could be the ideal role for you.
