About The Role As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you are primarily responsible for delivering projects and will be called upon to leverage your technical knowledge to deliver business outcomes in AWS (be they IaaS, PaaS or other). We are looking for an individual who has a growth mindset, who is always learning, has great interpersonal and communication skills with excellent technical knowledge. What You’ll Do As a Cloud Engineer - AWS you’ll manage customer cloud environments, supporting and transforming AWS technology. Whilst solving our customers business challenges, you’ll provide enablement not only in the technology but also in modern ways of working to support its use. This a flexible and varied role working with a diverse range of customers across the cloud transformation spectrum to: Responsible for driving operational excellence through automation, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps practices, observability, security governance, and continuous service improvement. Working closely with customers, architects, service delivery teams, and engineers, the successful candidate will lead incident and problem management activities, influence platform strategy, champion AI-enabled operational efficiencies, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of cloud operating models. Strong expertise in AWS, cloud-native technologies, ITIL-based service management, automation, and stakeholder engagement is essential, along with experience supporting mission-critical production environments and participating in on-call operational leadership.Be a trusted advisor for all things CloudLead and inspire our customers on the benefits of cloud technology, automation, and enabling a DevOps/DevSecOps cultureEnsure our customers cloud environments remain secure and optimisedAct as the bridge between application technologies and customer support teamsProvide enablement and guidance This is an operational role, and involves an on-call roster for afterhours support. This role can be located in any Datacom NZ office, ideally Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. What You’ll Bring Experience in designing, building, deploying, and supporting AWS solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), including but not limited to: Code Pipeline builds and Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform and Pulumi.Ability to code Lambda functions, including a knowledge of python.Familiarity with hybrid and multi cloud design e.g. multi-region/zone, scalable, resilient, secureTenancy, Account Structure, Control Tower and LZA, SCPs, Tagging and Cost ControlsStrong knowledge of AWS services, incl. EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, S3, Lambda, SSM Patch Manager, AWS Backup, SQS, etc.Identity management incl. IAM, Identity Center, Roles, STS, MFA, Policy writingAWS networking incl. VPC, SecGroups, TGW, ALB/NLB, Route53, CloudFront, WAF, Shield, etc.Kubernetes, including AWS Fargate.Compliance standards and auditing incl. CIS, NZISM, PCI, HIPAA, SecurityHub, etcMonitoring, logging and alerting tools and configuration incl. CloudWatch, LogGroups, SNS, EventBridge, webhooksCloud native and digital solutions leveraging emerging technologies incl. containers, serverless, data analytics, ML and AI, IoT, API, Micro-services, etcExperience with Dynatrace would be a bonus.Familiar with DevOps processes and skilled in tools such as Git and ADO.Certification Preferred: AWS Solutions Architect - Associate.
