Location Remote (US timezone preferred, open to other timezones) Compensation Equity only Commitment Full-time About Us At Avenio AI, we build the Intelligent Protocol Hub — a platform that helps clinical teams write better trial protocols, faster. It flags design risks before they become costly protocol amendments and suggests concrete fixes, so domain experts can focus on core scientific work instead of the paperwork. We're an early-stage startup founded by serial entrepreneurs and operators from health tech and AI. We're piloting with BioPharma companies today, building secure data pipelines, domain-tuned LLMs, and real-time retrieval over multimodal enterprise data. Now we're building the product experience around that intelligence — and we're looking for mission-driven engineers to design, build, and productionize it. What You'll Do You'll ship real features to the Intelligent Protocol Hub from your first week: Build front-end features in React, Next.js, and TypeScript — the protocol authoring, review, and amendment workflows clinical teams use daily.Build and maintain the back-end services and APIs behind those workflows.Work on our AI features end to end: RAG pipelines grounded in private enterprise and regulatory data, and the interfaces that make model output reviewable.Use AI coding tools daily. We build with Claude Code for scaffolding, test coverage, and first-pass review — and review what they produce as rigorously as a teammate's PR.Write tested code, review others', debug production issues, and improve the tooling around you. Who You Are You're curious, hands-on, and want to build something that matters in healthcare and science. You learn by shipping, ask questions early instead of quietly getting stuck, and treat code review as a gift. You're fluent with AI coding tools and clear-eyed about them — they make you much faster, and they're confidently wrong often enough that you read every diff before your name goes on it. You don't need to know clinical research yet; you do need to want to learn it. Must-Have 0–2 years building web applications (internships and substantial personal or open-source projects count)Strong fundamentals in a modern language, with working proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScriptExperience building UIs with a modern framework — React preferredExperience with REST APIs, relational databases, and Git workflowsPractical experience with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) — you've built something real with them and know where they helped and where you overrode themFamiliarity with LLM applications: you've built with an LLM API and understand prompting, embeddings, and retrievalClear communication — you can explain what you built and why Nice to Have Getting genuinely good results from agentic coding tools — context files, test-first workflows, internal toolingRAG frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack) or vector databases (FAISS, Weaviate, Qdrant, pgvector)Cloud deployment (GCP preferred) and DockerLLM fine-tuning and evaluation — Hugging Face, PyTorch, LoRA/QLoRABiomedical or regulatory text corpora (PubMed, FDA guidance, ClinicalTrials.gov)Life sciences background, or work in a regulated industryNext.js, Tailwind, Vitest, or Playwright Why Join Us Learn by shipping to production.
