API Engineer

Job Responsibilities Prepare test & functional data, support system testing, and optimize API performance and code to ensure system stability.Integrate third-party services via standard APIs and integration tools, independently deliver high-quality projects on schedule.Design and optimize integration frameworks to ensure solutions comply with technical standards, business workflows and enterprise architecture requirements.Collaborate with architects and project leaders to define integration strategies, and deliver tasks in line with project scope, timeline and specifications.Work with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, implement API integration, and align deliverables with company IT strategy.Establish and guide API design standards to build secure, maintainable and scalable API architectures.Develop and maintain API specifications, integration documentation and internal operation guidelines.Verify integration test results, troubleshoot system issues, conduct root cause analysis and prevent recurring problems.Communicate with customers to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues efficiently.Build automated performance monitoring and issue reporting mechanisms to improve system reliability.Participate in project transition, system go-live and team knowledge transfer activities.Core Technical Competencies Translate business requirements into standardized API designs using OpenAPI or RAML.Formulate and implement enterprise API design standards and lifecycle management best practices.Familiar with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and SDLC processes.Conduct hands-on coding, peer code review, development management, environment configuration and deployment support.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.3+ years of experience working with API management platforms and enterprise integration tools.3+ years of experience designing and developing RESTful / GraphQL APIs with JSON / XML for system integration.Proficient in Unix, JavaScript and Python scripting and development.Solid understanding of business workflow analysis, IT security fundamentals and database systems.Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.Excellent communication skills to align technical and business teams.Cloud certification (Azure / AWS / GCP) is preferred.
