Role Description The Forward Deployed AI Engineer Intern role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Tempe, AZ, with flexibility for some work-from-home days. Interns will work closely with senior engineers to design, develop, and deploy AI-driven software solutions that solve practical problems for clients. Day-to-day tasks include building and maintaining back-end services, writing clean and efficient code, integrating APIs, and implementing AI models into production-ready applications. The role also involves participating in technical discussions, debugging and optimizing systems, documenting solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. Interns are expected to take ownership of tasks, learn quickly, and consistently deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), using languages such as Python, Java, or similar.Experience or coursework in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, including building and maintaining APIs or services.Familiarity with AI/ML tools and frameworks (e.g., Python libraries, LLMs, model deployment) is highly beneficial.Ability to work in a hybrid environment in Tempe, AZ, collaborate effectively with senior engineers, and manage time across multiple tasks.Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Computer Science or related STEM degree program at ASU or an equivalent institution.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
