The Senior AMI Systems Integration Engineer – MDMS / MDM / HeadEnd / HES / Smart Meter / Utility will lead the design, integration, and maintenance of Advanced Metering Infrastructure systems for utility clients. This contract, hybrid role is based in California, United States, with a combination of on-site work and some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include integrating MDMS/MDM and HeadEnd systems, configuring smart meter and utility interfaces, and ensuring data integrity and performance across AMI platforms. The engineer will diagnose and resolve complex system issues, coordinate testing and validation, collaborate with cross-functional technical teams, and provide advanced technical support to internal stakeholders and clients. The role also involves documenting integration designs, maintaining system administration procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement of AMI solutions and operational practices. Work ArrangementRemote-first / Hybrid: The role is primarily remote.Client Visit: Candidate must be available to visit the client site approximately Thrice per month as required.Candidates should be comfortable working within the PST time zone and traveling to the client site for the periodic onsite visit. Qualifications Strong Systems Engineering and System Administration skills for complex AMI, MDMS/MDM, HeadEnd, HES, smart meter, and utility environments.Proficiency in Troubleshooting and Technical Support to diagnose, analyze, and resolve integration and performance issues.Experience in Testing, including integration, regression, and user acceptance testing for large-scale utility and metering systems.Hands-on experience with AMI platforms, smart meter technologies, and utility industry data models and communication protocols.Solid understanding of cloud-based architectures and integration patterns, preferably with AWS, Azure, or GCP.Ability to produce clear technical documentation, system diagrams, and operational procedures.Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with technical, business, and vendor teams in hybrid on-site/remote settings.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced certifications in systems or cloud engineering are a plus.Prior experience in utility, energy, or smart grid projects is highly beneficial.
