Remote Sensing Research Engineer

Position Overview Riverside Research is seeking a highly skilled Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Research Engineer to support the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency involving infrared sensing, space-based missile warning systems, data exploitation, and algorithm development. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in EO/IR systems, infrared phenomenology, OPIR data analysis, and software development for remote sensing. This role requires proven experience working with complex sensor systems, developing and testing new analysis capabilities, and collaborating with government, industry, and research partners on next-generation sensing technologies. Responsibilities Support prototyping, development, and support transition of advanced OPIR data processing algorithmsEvaluate and troubleshoot data processing, identify anomalies, and coordinate remediation strategiesSupport development of white papers, technical documentation, and transition plansCollaborate with research organizations, DoD stakeholders, and external agencies Qualifications Required Qualifications Active TS/SCI clearanceAdvanced understanding of EO/IR signal processing, AI/ML processing, and target system phenomenologyBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related technical field2+ years of experience in EO/IR algorithm developmentDetailed experience with OPIR data formats and processing pipelinesAdvanced Python development skillsStrong analytical skills and ability to diagnose sensor performance, data anomalies, and software issues Desired Qualifications Experience with OPIR analysisMaster’s degree in Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related technical fieldExperience collaborating with NGA, NASIC or other intelligence community organizations Global Comp $95,000- $120,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
