Position Summary
Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC (GEO + BAT Teams) effort.
This position develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, large data set manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems.
The Software Engineer will work independently or as part of a team to design, code, test, debug, and improve software solutions based on documented requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
Debug existing software and correct defects.
Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
Write or review software and system documentation.
Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow and data usage, and investigating problem areas.
Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on a particular project.
Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
Strong Java experience.
Experience with MapReduce.
Cloud experience.
Experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar.
Experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar.
Experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.
Required Education and Experience Equivalency
High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience.
Associates Degree with 11 years of experience.
Bachelors' Degree with 7 years of experience.
Masters' Degree with 7 years of experience.
PhD with 7 years of experience.
