About The Role
We are seeking talented Android Engineers to join multiple teams at Whatnot, offering opportunities to work on either product experiences or mobile infrastructure.
In this role, you will be instrumental in developing high-quality, intuitive Android applications that directly impact our buyers and sellers.
Your work will help shape how users discover Whatnot, engage with the marketplace, and conduct transactions.
On our product teams, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and fellow mobile developers to define goals, solve customer problems, and deliver seamless experiences at scale.
You will be responsible for building features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, ensuring performance, reliability, and user satisfaction.
Additionally, you may join our App Platform team, where your focus will be on creating the underlying mobile infrastructure that powers all Android experiences across the platform.
This includes developing developer tooling, optimizing app architecture, enhancing performance, and establishing platform foundations that enable rapid deployment and high-quality user experiences for millions of users worldwide.
Throughout the hiring process, candidates will undergo a comprehensive interview focused on technical skills and experience.

Key responsibilities include developing features with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability; collaborating cross-functionally; contributing to shared mobile infrastructure; upholding engineering best practices; and continuously improving our mobile ecosystem.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience4+ years of experience building and shipping high-quality Android applicationsProficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for UI developmentStrong knowledge of reactive programming using Kotlin Coroutines and FlowsExperience with architectural patterns such as MVI or MVVMDeep understanding of creating fluid, responsive, and user-friendly interfacesPassion for product quality, performance, and polished user experiencesAbility to work effectively in cross-functional teams including product, design, and backend engineeringExperience using data analytics and experimentation tools (SQL, Snowflake, A/B testing) to inform decisionsExcellent communication skills and ability to drive alignment in fast-paced, ambiguous environmentsGrowth mindset with a willingness to take ownership from concept through launch and mentor peers
