Role Description The Java Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain backend services that power PPLIED’s hiring platform, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. In this full-time remote role, the engineer will develop and refine microservices using Java and the Spring Framework, integrate with internal and external APIs, and contribute to architectural decisions. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean and testable code, performing code reviews, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with product and design teams to deliver new features. The engineer will also help improve development workflows, ensure security and data integrity, and participate in continuous improvement of the platform’s overall technical stack. Qualifications Strong skills in Software Development and Programming, with a focus on object-oriented design and clean coding practices.Proficiency in Java and experience using the Spring Framework to build robust backend services.Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Microservices-based architectures.Familiarity with RESTful APIs, relational and/or NoSQL databases, and version control systems such as Git.Ability to write unit and integration tests, and work with CI/CD pipelines in a modern development environment.Comfort working in a remote, cross-functional team, with clear communication and collaborative problem-solving skills.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and security best practices is beneficial.
