About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Back End Engineer to join our dynamic Trading team.
This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems that support our trading operations and data pipelines.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building distributed systems, particularly in low latency trading environments.
Located in Chicago, IL or New York, NY, this position offers a hybrid work model with some travel to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The successful candidate will act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers, and driving engineering best practices across the team.
Your work will directly impact the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our trading infrastructure, enabling Altruist to continue its rapid growth and innovation in the wealth management space.
Qualifications
8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on building precise and scalable distributed systems.2+ years of recent experience developing low latency trading systems at scale.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.Proficiency in modern tech stacks such as Java, Spring Boot, Microservices architecture, AWS, Postgres, and Kubernetes.Strong ownership mentality with pride in delivering high-quality work.Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.Demonstrated resilience and determination to overcome challenges and achieve goals.Confident, ego-less approach with a strong foundation of technical knowledge and openness to new ideas.Creative problem-solving skills with an ability to identify innovative solutions to complex issues.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor engineering team members, promoting best practices and technical excellence.Design, develop, and optimize backend services supporting trading operations and data pipelines.Build and scale high-performance, customer-centric web applications and features.Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ELT processes to support analytics and reporting needs.Create new data integrations based on detailed requirements, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.Perform data analysis to identify, investigate, and resolve data issues efficiently.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions aligned with business objectives.Maintain a focus on system performance, security, and reliability to ensure seamless trading experiences.
