About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Full Stack Engineer to lead the technical direction and scalability of Mattermost’s core web platform tailored for defense and critical infrastructure operations.
In this role, you will drive architectural decisions and set technical strategies across our Go backend and React/TypeScript frontend, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver features that meet stringent security, compliance, and reliability standards.
Your leadership will influence organizational standards for AI-assisted engineering workflows, improve internal tooling and testing infrastructure, and uphold high-quality code practices.
You will work closely with security, compliance, and product teams to align technical initiatives with customer requirements and mentor senior engineers to elevate the technical capabilities of the organization.
Additionally, you will contribute to the open-source community, helping shape the future of secure collaboration tools.
Qualifications
Senior full-stack development experience with Go and React (or equivalent stacks)Proven track record of designing and owning distributed, high-availability systems at scaleStrong experience with REST and WebSocket API design and networking fundamentalsRelational database expertise, particularly with PostgreSQL, schema design, and query optimizationHands-on experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot for scaffolding, refactoring, code review, and test generationAbility to influence technical decisions across multiple teams without formal authorityExperience mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical barComfort working in regulated, high-compliance environments such as enterprise security, government, or critical infrastructure
