Role Description The Intermediate Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain back-end services and APIs that power Somi AI’s products in a full-time, remote capacity.
Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new features, optimizing existing code, and collaborating with product and data teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
The role involves writing clean, well-structured code, performing code reviews, creating unit and integration tests, and troubleshooting production issues.
The engineer will also contribute to technical design discussions, documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices and tooling.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with experience building and maintaining scalable services or APIs.Solid Programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C#, or similar).Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and patterns, and writing maintainable, modular code.Familiarity with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), version control systems (e.g., Git), and modern development workflows.Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, communicate clearly, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization, or AI/ML products is a plus.
