About the Role We are looking for an experienced and motivated Control Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is ideal for an experienced C/C++ software developer who enjoys designing robust industrial software solutions. You'll be responsible for developing and enhancing the core functionality of our Imperium4 process control platform, working closely with our Controls engineers to deliver innovative automation solutions for customers across the UK and internationally. The role is primarily office-based in Nottingham, with occasional opportunities to visit customer sites to support software deployment, commissioning activities and technical investigations. You'll join a collaborative engineering environment where you'll contribute to the ongoing development of a mature industrial software platform while helping shape future functionality and improvements. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain software within the Imperium4 process control platform.Develop new features and enhance existing functionality using C/C++.Investigate, diagnose and resolve software defects and technical issues.Work closely with Controls Engineers to integrate software with industrial control systems.Participate in software testing, validation and release activities.Produce and maintain technical documentation.Support software deployment during customer commissioning where required.Collaborate with Engineering and Support teams to deliver successful customer projects.Contribute to continuous improvement of software architecture, performance and maintainability.Follow company software development standards and best practices.Participation in a well-paid out-of-hours support rota on a sign-up basis Requirements Commercial experience developing software using C/C++.Strong understanding of both procedural and object-oriented programming principles.Experience working with Microsoft Visual Studio and Windows development environments.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to troubleshoot complex software issues.Good communication and teamwork skills.A proactive and organised approach to work.Full UK driving licence.Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and overseas where required. Desirable Experience developing desktop applications for Windows.Knowledge of multithreaded application development.Experience working with SQL Server or other relational databases.Understanding of Ethernet networking and communication protocols.Familiarity with industrial automation or manufacturing systems.Experience with source control systems such as Git.
