Headcanon aims to make licensing more accessible for independent creators while giving rights holders meaningful control over how their worlds are represented. Rather than focusing on mass-produced items, the company is dedicated to opening the door to fan-driven creativity and unique products. Headcanon is currently preparing for launch and actively engaging with game studios, rights holders, and makers who share this vision. Role Description As a Senior Frontend Developer at Headcanon, you will lead the design and implementation of user-facing features for our marketplace platform, ensuring a smooth, responsive experience for makers, rights holders, and fans. Working full time on-site in Kew, VIC, you will translate product requirements and UX designs into high-quality, maintainable frontend code, and collaborate closely with designers and backend engineers to deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include building reusable components, optimizing performance, improving accessibility, and maintaining a consistent visual and interaction design across the application. You will participate in code reviews, contribute to technical decisions and architecture, and help establish best practices for testing, documentation, and deployment. This role also involves mentoring other developers, identifying areas for improvement in the frontend stack, and supporting iterative product development in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Strong Front-End Development skills, including modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or similar) and component-based architecture.Experience with Responsive Web Design and building accessible, cross-browser, and mobile-friendly user interfaces.Solid Web Development and Software Development fundamentals, including version control, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.Understanding of Back-End Web Development concepts and APIs to effectively integrate frontend components with server-side services.Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+), with experience in tooling such as Webpack, Vite, or similar.Experience working in product-focused teams, collaborating with design and product stakeholders, and delivering features from concept to release.Ability to write clean, well-documented code and to participate in and lead constructive code reviews.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.Experience in marketplace, e-commerce, or creator-focused platforms is advantageous.
