This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Field Engineer based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to help global organizations adopt modern private and public cloud infrastructure, Linux, cloud-native platforms, and open source technologies. You will combine cloud architecture, hands-on engineering, software development, and customer consulting to solve complex technical challenges. The role spans the Linux stack, from networking and storage to applications, while working with platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and Ceph. You will design, deploy, test, and transition cloud solutions while contributing Python-based automation and open source infrastructure code. Strong customer engagement is central to the position, including architecture discussions, technical presentations, training, and solution guidance. You will also contribute to engineering culture by sharing expertise, coaching colleagues, and collaborating across globally distributed teams. Accountabilities Design and deliver private and public cloud infrastructure solutions using technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, Hadoop, and Spark across on-premises and public cloud environments.Work across the Linux technology stack, including kernel, networking, storage, infrastructure, and applications.Develop open source solutions and infrastructure automation using Python.Act as a cloud solutions architect and technical consultant, translating customer workload requirements into practical and scalable architectures.Deploy, test, validate, and hand over cloud solutions to support or managed services teams at the completion of projects.Engage directly with customers through technical discussions, architecture sessions, presentations, training, and solution workshops.Coach and support colleagues by sharing technical expertise and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.Stay current with emerging cloud-native, Linux, open source, and infrastructure technologies and apply relevant innovations to customer solutions.Maintain strong organization, follow-up, and ownership across projects and commitments.Travel internationally for customer engagements, internal collaboration, and industry events, with travel expected up to 25% of the time. Requirements University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent software engineering expertise.Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies, including Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, and Ceph.Practical experience with Linux systems and networking.Intermediate to advanced Python programming skills, with the ability to develop automation and open source solutions.Understanding of cloud infrastructure, containers, virtualization, networking, and modern infrastructure technologies.Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly through presentations, discussions, and training.Dynamic and adaptable approach, with enthusiasm for joining new projects and collaborating with different teams and customers.Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and developing expertise in new technologies.Excellent English communication and presentation skills.Strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to follow through on commitments.Ability to collaborate effectively in a globally distributed and multicultural environment.A second language is an advantage.Willingness and ability to travel internationally for internal and external events and customer-related project work.
