Senior Backend Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a team developing innovative cloud-based software solutions that support cutting-edge scientific and healthcare technologies. In this role, you will design and build scalable backend services, contribute to modern cloud architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-quality software products. Location Remote - Canada Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs and software features.Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using modern distributed systems and serverless technologies.Build and enhance microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot.Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.Leverage AI-assisted development tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve software design, implementation, and productivity.Research and evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and development practices to continuously improve engineering processes.Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.Contribute to software architecture discussions and support continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications 6+ years of professional software development experience.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.Experience building and maintaining microservices-based architectures.Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.Experience working in Agile development environments.Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical challenges. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing cloud-native applications using AWS.Frontend development experience and the ability to contribute to full-stack initiatives.Background in life sciences, bioinformatics, healthcare, or medical devices.Experience developing software in regulated environments with design control processes. Expected Compensation Range: 90K. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.
