One of our Federal government clients seeking to engage a Senior Developer. Role: Senior Developers - APS6 Level Location of work: Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide Length of contract: 12 months Contract extensions: 24 months extension Security clearance: Must have Baseline security clearance Job details Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team. Development describes the function of developing, testing, supporting, technical documentation and maintaining applications and frameworks involved in the software development life cycle. Senior Developers realise design, prototypes and testing support, and are responsible for the development of software and technical design. The role is responsible for the definition of software/technical design and realisation. Senior Developers work under the limited direction of senior staff. They exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. Decision-making is substantially dependent on judgement, skills and knowledge. Senior Developers manage and organise their own work in the context of competing priorities, including contributing to business planning, changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies. Key duties and responsibilities Duties may include some or all of the following: undertake analysis, design, development, prototyping, testing and maintenance activitiesprovide support to development teams to create ICT solutionsperform analysis of technical requirements to support project evaluation with proposed solutionsdefine software and technical designs for the realisation of high complexity custom solutions or conversion and migration solutionsensure excellent quality and maintain high standards in software developmentprovide go-live support and maintenance for developmentsescalate issues as identified and suggest alternative approachespropose and facilitate innovative solutions to meet enterprise and user requirementsensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologiesprovide comprehensive technical support to senior staffmonitor workloads to ensure business goals are achievedensure work aligns with processes and overall delivery outcomesperform cost analysis activities as requireddevelop documentation for review by senior staff including technical documentations and progress reportscollaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective and timely implementation of projectsmaintain up-to-date knowledge of ICT policies and processes and transfer knowledge to other team membersexercise appropriate delegation in accordance with legislations and guidelines. Essential criteria 1.Methods and tools: Level 4 (SFIA)Provides advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.2.Release and deployment: Level 4 (SFIA)Assesses and analyses release components for input to release scheduling. Maintains and administers tools and methods for software delivery, deployment and configuration. Maintains release processes and procedures. Desirable criteria 1.Application support: Level 3 (SFIA)Follows agreed procedures to identify and resolve issues with applications. Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks.
