Software Engineer – Backend / Full Stack 📍 New York, NY 🏢 On-site Monday–Thursday; work from home Friday 💰 $180,000–$230,000 base salary + competitive equity 💼 Full-time 🛂 Open to OPT and H-1B visa transfers About the Opportunity We’re recruiting for a fast-growing fintech startup building financial infrastructure for the nonprofit and charitable-giving ecosystem. Its platform already processes billions of dollars in payments and supports more than 100,000 nonprofit donation forms. The company is looking for a Backend / Full Stack Engineer with 2–10 years of backend engineering experience. You’ll join a small, high-caliber engineering team and own systems end to end—from architecture and technical design through deployment and production. This is a high-autonomy position with direct access to the founders and leadership team. Your judgment will influence both what gets built and how the engineering organization operates. What You’ll Do Design, build, and own backend services and components powering a large-scale payment platformTake projects from architecture and technical planning through deployment and production supportContribute to decisions involving APIs, infrastructure, data systems, and engineering best practicesBuild reliable, scalable systems for processing high-volume financial transactionsImprove real-time monitoring and alerting to provide better visibility into product performance and user behaviorCollaborate directly with founders, product leaders, and engineers through whiteboarding and technical discussionsWork across different areas of the platform rather than being limited to a single product lineHelp establish technical standards as the engineering team and platform continue to scale What We’re Looking For 2–10 years of professional backend engineering experienceStrong experience designing and building production-grade backend applicationsAbility to independently own complex projects from initial design through launchSolid understanding of APIs, databases, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructureStrong technical judgment and the confidence to contribute meaningfully to architecture decisionsClear communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego approach to technical debateComfort working in a fast-moving startup environment with limited layers and high ownershipWillingness to work from the New York City office Monday through Thursday Technology Stack GoNode.jsPostgreSQLREST APIs and gRPCAWSDockerKubernetesTerraform Direct experience with every technology is not required, but candidates should have strong backend fundamentals and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
