Responsibilities Develop high-performing websites and web applications with a focus on WordPress, including building and implementing backend (APIs, databases) and front-end (interfaces, web-based tools) solutions while utilizing project management tools and collaborating with colleagues, including project managers, writers, and designers.Review, build, and optimize functionality, performance, accessibility, scalability, and security of Purdue for Life Foundation websites and web applications. Coordinate with Purdue University IT when applicable.Develop data structures, web tools, and programs while taking into consideration multi-browser and mobile compatibility and performance.Document website and web application development efforts (such as changes, new functionality, and issue/problem resolution).Test website and web application performance and functionality, perform quality assurance checks, and fix bugs accordingly.Ensure that all protocols used in the development and maintenance of websites are up to date and compliant with university policies and standards.Research and stay up to date on new industry web standards, emerging media technology, UX/UI design/philosophy, and accessibility standards.In partnership with the design team, provide creative design solutions that enhance the visual experience for users, taking into consideration varying presentation formats (mobile vs. desktop) and university brand guidelines.Analyze and report on website performance metrics, and perform user testing and usage analysis.Identify and apply updates, upgrades, and patches, and perform testing to ensure website effectiveness and usability.Where applicable, incorporate AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance marketing efforts. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Proficiency in developing websites and web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience using common JavaScript frameworks and librariesStrong understanding of Windows-based environments and experience with secure remote access and file transfer using tools and protocols such as SecureFX/SecureCRT, WinSCP, Cyberduck, OpenSSH, SSH, SFTP, and SCPExperience working with proprietary web-development tools, such as Adobe DreamweaverExperience with server-side web frameworks, such as Python, Ruby, or PHPExperience with database systems, such as MySQL or OracleExperience using Google Analytics to analyze website performance, identify trends and opportunities, and communicate actionable insightsExperience working and collaborating in a project-management tool, such as Lytho or WorkfrontAbility to develop and integrate APIs and third-party servicesFamiliarity with source control management, such as Git/GitHubAbility to apply visual-design and user-experience principles to websites and web applicationsProficiency with graphics and image-design toolsAbility to incorporate web accessibility, usability, and responsive design best practices in accordance with applicable policies and standardsAbility to contribute to file repositories and communicate with colleagues to ensure project successAbility to audit and perform updates to developed code systems and projectsBasic knowledge of IT infrastructure, network services, and cloud computingExperience with content-management systems, such as WordPress, Sitecore, or CascadeStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsProject-management and prioritization skills as well as dependability and flexibility to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environmentAbility to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and development practicesProficient in English, with strong written and verbal communication skillsExperience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe XD preferred Required Education, Experience and Benefits Summary Bachelor’s degree required; prefer concentration in computer science or related field.A minimum of three years of full-stack web development or related experience.Experience in higher education setting preferred.Location: West Lafayette, Indiana (Hybrid Strongly Preferred) | Remote candidates will also be considered Job Level: Professional 2 *Purdue For Life Foundation job levels and compensation ranges are independent of, and differ from, those of Purdue University.
