DevOps Engineer — £32,000 Full-time | Fully remote | UK-based only Thornacre Engineering builds secure WordPress and PHP-based websites and digital applications for public sector organizations across the UK. We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, operational reliability and day-to-day infrastructure security. You’ll: Manage and maintain our Microsoft Azure infrastructureBuild and improve CI/CD pipelinesManage infrastructure using Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code toolingSupport Docker-based development and deployment environmentsMaintain and improve the security, resilience and compliance of our infrastructureManage identity, permissions, secrets and access controlsImplement and maintain vulnerability, dependency and container scanningMonitor application performance, availability, security events and infrastructure healthManage backups, patching, logging, alerting and disaster recovery processesSupport developers with deployment, infrastructure and operational security issuesMaintain clear infrastructure, security and operational documentationSupport remediation following vulnerability scans and penetration testingImprove automation, reliability and security across our environmentsWork closely with our development team and report to the Technical Director We’re looking for someone with: Commercial DevOps experienceGood experience with Microsoft AzureExperience with Docker and containerized environmentsExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelinesInfrastructure as Code experience, ideally TerraformStrong Linux and networking fundamentalsExperience with GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOpsGood understanding of cloud security and least-privilege accessFamiliarity with vulnerability scanning, secrets management and dependency securityUnderstanding of monitoring, backups, patching and disaster recoveryThe ability to work independently and take ownership of infrastructure Experience working in regulated, public sector or security-conscious environments would be beneficial.
