DevOps Engineer

DevOps Engineer Kansas City, MO | Hybrid / In-Office | Full-Time We’re partnering with an established organization in downtown Kansas City looking to add a DevOps Engineer to its growing technology team. This is a hybrid position that requires regular in-office/on-site work in downtown Kansas City and is not a fully remote opportunity. THE OPPORTUNITY This role is a great fit for someone with a few years of technical experience who wants to continue building their career in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, automation, SRE, and Platform Engineering. You’ll work alongside experienced DevOps and Platform Engineers to improve how applications and infrastructure are built, deployed, monitored, and supported. The environment is highly collaborative, with regular interaction across Software Development, IT Operations, Security, QA, and other technical teams. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Build, support, and enhance CI/CD pipelines, primarily using Azure DevOps YAML Pipelines and/or GitHub ActionsAssist with application releases and deployment processes using Octopus Deploy or similar toolsSupport cloud infrastructure and automation initiatives, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft AzureWork with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templatesHelp deploy and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/AKSAssist with internal developer platform tools, templates, and self-service capabilitiesMonitor application and infrastructure health and help troubleshoot production issues and identify root causesWork with observability and monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and GrafanaSupport DevSecOps initiatives, including vulnerability scanning and secrets managementCollaborate with development and database teams to streamline application and database deploymentsParticipate in efforts to improve cloud efficiency, automation, reliability, and overall deployment processesGain exposure to modern SRE, GitOps, FinOps, AI-assisted development, and AIOps practices WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Ideally, you’ll bring 2+ years of experience supporting production systems or working within IT operations, software development, QA, DevOps, or a related technical environment. Experience or familiarity with the following is especially valuable: Microsoft AzureAzure DevOps pipelines / CI/CDOctopus Deploy or comparable release management toolsGitHub ActionsPowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languagesInfrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM)Git-based version controlDocker and KubernetesMonitoring/observability toolsBasic networking, load balancing, and Active Directory conceptsSRE concepts, incident response, and production troubleshooting A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered. WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT: The three areas we're particularly interested in are: Azure + Azure DevOps Pipelines + Octopus Deploy (or a comparable deployment/release platform). You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed above. We're looking for someone with a solid technical foundation who enjoys learning, troubleshooting, collaborating with experienced engineers, and continuing to grow within modern DevOps and cloud technologies.
