PHP Technical Lead

Title: PHP Tech Lead Location: Wrexham/Hybrid What we do: We’re the leaders in outsourced calls, live chat and more, delivering brilliant conversations on behalf of businesses of all sizes. Fast-forward two decades and what started as a single, dedicated PA (who’s still with us today) looking after calls for a handful of local clients, is now a 1000-strong team working across two continents from our state-of-the-art UK headquarters in Wrexham, and our US office in Atlanta. The role: As a PHP Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in leading our team of PHP developers, overseeing the architecture, development, and maintenance of our PHP-based applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, provide technical guidance, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions that align with our business objectives. Key responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of PHP developers, providing technical guidance, support, and feedback to foster their growth and ensure project success.Drive the design and development of scalable, secure, and efficient PHP applications in accordance with best practices.Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, assess project feasibility, and propose technical solutions aligned with business goals.Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and sprint planning to ensure timely delivery of high-quality code.Conduct code reviews, implement quality assurance processes, and enforce coding standards to maintain code integrity.Stay updated with the latest PHP trends, tools, and technologies, advocating for their integration when applicable.Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions. The person: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).Proven experience in PHP development, with expertise in frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or similar.Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring developers and leading projects from conception to deployment.Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and database design.Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related frameworks/libraries.Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), testing methodologies, and continuous integration/deployment.Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively, and a collaborative mindset.Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies(Docker, Kubernetes).Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools (JIRA, Trello, etc.).Certifications related to PHP or relevant technologies would be a plus.
