Join a small, experienced frontend team building modern web applications that shape high-volume financial transaction experiences. You’ll work across React and Next.js applications using TypeScript, contribute to a modern monorepo architecture, and collaborate closely with backend systems. The role offers substantial ownership, visible impact, and the opportunity to work on software used at significant global scale.
Highlights
Join a small, senior engineering team where frontend work has significant customer impact and ships quickly. The role offers ownership across multiple modern web applications serving large-scale financial transaction experiences.
Description
Apata is a fintech company building a new generation of flexible fraud-prevention solutions for card issuers.
Our platform authenticates more than 30 million e-commerce transactions a month for cardholders worldwide, and is trusted by around 100 financial institutions globally.
We're growing fast, and the frontend is central to how issuers and merchants experience what we do - so this is a great time to join a small, senior team where your work ships and matters.
What you'll work on
Our customers configure every part of the cardholder experience - the flow each cardholder moves through at transaction time - through the UI our team builds.
The frontend isn't the transaction engine, but it's the surface that decides how those millions of transactions behave.
You'll work across our two frontend products:
A merchant-facing single-page app - React on Vite, TypeScript throughout, part of a pnpm/Turborepo monorepo, talking to a backend-for-frontend (BFF).A Next.js application - TypeScript, tRPC, and TanStack Query.
Both are TypeScript-first and share tooling and patterns across the monorepo.
You'll move between them, so breadth across single-page and server-rendered React matters more than deep specialisation in one.
What you'll do
Lead the design and delivery of non-trivial frontend features - from shaping the approach through to shipping reliable, reusable, well-tested code.Set the technical bar through code review and pragmatic architecture decisions, and help the rest of the team level up.Partner with backend and platform engineers on API and contract design.
A lot of the interesting work lives at the boundary where the BFF meets services owned by other teams.Work closely with design to turn wireframes and mock-ups into high-quality components.Own performance, quality, and responsiveness across both products.Contribute to technical design docs and help shape how the frontend team works.
What we're looking for
6+ years of frontend experience building production software Deep expertise in React and TypeScript - the core of both products.Strong command of modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.Experience across both single-page apps and server-rendered / Next.js-style applications.Comfort with build tooling (Vite and the broader ecosystem) and with browser debugging.Strong testing and CI practices - unit, component, and end-to-end.A solid grasp of the full delivery lifecycle: design, development, and deployment.A track record of owning features end to end, working through ambiguity, and mentoring other engineers.
This is what makes the role senior - we're looking for someone who raises the level of the team, not just their own output.
Nice to have
Monorepo tooling (Turborepo, pnpm).Experience designing or consuming BFF / API layers, or working with tRPC.Domain exposure to payments, 3DS, or fintech more broadly.
What we offer
Competitive salary and equity in a fast-growing startup.Health insurance and a pension plan.Flexible paid time off.
