The team integrates wireless engineering with AI/ML to enable seamless handover between low Earth orbit satellites and ground networks. This approach reduces latency, mitigates communication dropouts, and enhances mission resilience in challenging environments. Role Description The Senior Software Engineer – SATCOM will design, implement, and optimize software components that enable seamless integration between satellite and terrestrial networks. Responsibilities include developing backend services and communication protocols, writing production-grade code, and collaborating with wireless and AI/ML teams to translate system requirements into robust software solutions. The role involves debugging complex distributed systems, improving performance and reliability, and contributing to architectural decisions and technical documentation. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Canada, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. ONLY CANADIAN RESIDENTS ELIGIBLE FOR SECURITY CLEARANCE WILL BE CONSIDERED Qualifications 5 years or more experience as a senior full stack engineer Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and distributed systemsProficiency in Software Development and Programming, using modern languages and tooling (e.g., C++, Python, Go, or similar)Experience in Back-End Web Development, microservices, and API design for high-performance systemsAdvanced skills in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and software architecture for scalable, maintainable codebasesBackground in networking or communications systems; SATCOM, wireless, or telecom experience is a strong assetKnowledge of Linux environments, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD practicesAbility to work in cross-functional teams, communicate complex technical concepts clearly, and mentor other engineersBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
