About the Opportunity:
The Automation Engineer expands automation capabilities across the business by developing integrations, data pipelines, workflow automation, and supporting services that reduce manual work and improve system interoperability.
This role combines hands-on development with emerging AI technologies and collaborates closely with the existing development team.
The position also provides opportunities to contribute to automation architecture and broader technical strategy.
Responsibilities:
• Develop end-to-end automation solutions, including integrations, data pipelines, workflow automation, and scripting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and determine when AI or traditional solutions are most appropriate.
• Manage data movement and system integrations involving SharePoint, SQL, file shares, and document processing.
• Implement AI capabilities including prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and large language model (LLM) integrations.
• Collaborate with the C#/.NET and Angular development team on feature development, bug fixes, and code reviews.
• Deploy and maintain containerized services on Azure, including self-hosted vector storage components.
• Work with external consultants to expand technical knowledge and reduce long-term reliance on consulting support.
• Rapidly prototype automation concepts to validate solutions before full implementation.
Requirements:
• 3–7 years of full-stack development experience, preferably with C#, .NET, and Python.
• More than 3 years of experience building systems, data integrations, or APIs for critical business systems.
• Proven backend development experience with C#, JavaScript, Python, or Node.js.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation concepts, including chunking, embeddings, and vector search.
• Experience with vector databases such as Qdrant, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly for system integration and production issues.
• Familiarity with workflow automation tools such as n8n, Zapier, or Airflow, as well as Redis.
• Experience deploying applications using Docker.
• Experience maintaining cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Understanding of version control and basic CI/CD practices.
• Ability to monitor system health and troubleshoot production script failures.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field is a plus.
