Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
HiveRx is a production pharmacy operations platform built for regulated compounding environments.
The next stage of the product extends beyond internal pharmacy operations into the surfaces used by patients, prescribers, and business partners.
This role owns patient and prescriber portal development: the workflows, interfaces, and backend behavior that make HiveRx a complete product outside the pharmacy.
These portals are not cosmetic add-ons.
They are external product surfaces that must connect cleanly into regulated internal operations.
This is not a pure frontend role, and it is not a generic portal role.
It requires someone who can build polished user-facing workflows while understanding the operational and compliance consequences behind each screen.
WHAT YOU'LL DOProduct Engineering
Own development of patient and prescriber portal capabilities from requirements through release
Build user-facing workflows that connect cleanly into HiveRx pharmacy operations
Develop polished, reliable experiences using Vue, Inertia, Tailwind, and the existing platform architecture
Implement backend workflows, validation rules, notifications, and state transitions needed to support external users
Design secure external-user flows involving authentication, authorization, data collection, and workflow state
Feature Specification & Research
Translate portal concepts into detailed, unambiguous feature specifications
Research patient, prescriber, partner, and pharmacy workflows to make sure portal behavior matches operational reality
Define acceptance criteria that are clear enough for QA and release validation
Identify when different pharmacies or partners require different portal behavior or configuration
Work directly with stakeholders to extract and validate requirements before build work begins

Product & Platform Ownership
Ensure portal behavior supports pharmacy workflows rather than creating operational drag
Account for compliance-sensitive behavior around identity, access, PHI, data collection, auditability, and workflow traceability
Contribute to technical, user-facing, and compliance-relevant documentation
Support release planning, QA review, and internal testing for portal features
Proactively identify UX gaps, workflow risks, and implementation dependencies
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORTechnical
Strong command of PHP and Laravel; you can read, debug, and write production code in a real codebase
Comfortable with Vue 3, Inertia.js, Tailwind CSS, and Vite-based frontend tooling
Strong UX judgment for workflow-heavy applications
Able to design secure external-user flows involving authentication, authorization, validation, and stateful workflows
Able to work within an established architecture without needing to rebuild it
Domain
Experience working in or building software for regulated industries, preferably healthcare
Understanding of compliance considerations that affect software design: PHI, audit trails, data integrity, access control, and change documentation
Familiarity with pharmacy, patient access, prescriber workflows, dispensing, or adjacent workflows is a meaningful plus
Comfortable learning workflows that vary by pharmacy, partner, patient population, and operational model
AI & Tooling
Comfortable using AI tools as a productivity layer for interface iteration, research, implementation support, and code review
Able to critically evaluate AI-generated code and documentation before relying on it
Understands where AI output requires extra scrutiny: edge cases, regulatory logic, data handling, integration boundaries, and user-facing workflow behavior
Writing & Communication
Strong technical writer; your specs require minimal clarification
Able to communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
Detail-oriented without being slow; you know when a portal workflow is defined enough to build
Comfortable explaining UX tradeoffs, compliance constraints, and operational dependencies
Mindset
Senior ownership mentality; you can take a broad product surface and make it executable
Comfortable with ambiguity; able to impose structure on it
Strong taste for user experience without losing sight of compliance and operations
Not looking for a role with clean lines; this role moves between product, UX, engineering, QA, and documentation by design

WHERE YOU'RE JOINING
HiveRx already supports internal pharmacy operations.
The next product step is to make the surrounding user experience stronger: patients, prescribers, and partners need clean digital surfaces that connect into the operational platform.
This work matters because portals shape how the product is experienced outside the pharmacy.
Poor portal design does not stay outside the pharmacy; it becomes operational drag, support burden, bad data, and workflow confusion.
The role is structured so you can directly influence how the portal product gets defined, how quality gets maintained, and how external-facing workflows connect back into regulated operations.
One expectation worth naming: this role requires genuine technical and product understanding.
AI tooling is welcome here as a productivity layer, but you need to own your output.
In a regulated environment, “the AI wrote it” is not a sufficient answer.
