Description

Platform Engineer Location: South Bay / Los Angeles, CA Salary: $130,000–$155,000 base The Opportunity We’re partnering with an established Southern California aerospace company to hire a hands-on Platform Engineer who will take ownership of the technical foundations with cloud infrastructure, internal systems, and enterprise applications. This is a broad engineering role for someone who enjoys working across the full technology stack rather than owning one narrow component. You’ll move between application development, Microsoft Azure, CI/CD, APIs, databases, security, and enterprise integrations, with significant autonomy over how the environment is engineered and improved. The company is investing in building stronger internal engineering capability, so this is not a vendor-management position. You’ll inherit real production systems and be trusted to make them more automated, reliable, secure, scalable, and maintainable. What You’ll Own Engineer and operate customer-facing web platforms across development, staging, and production environments.Work across modern JavaScript/TypeScript applications, APIs, content platforms, forms, search, and digital customer experiences.Own and improve a Microsoft Azure environment spanning compute, networking, storage, databases, security, monitoring, and application delivery.Build and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Docker, automated testing, approval gates, and controlled releases.Replace manual operational processes with automated, auditable, version-controlled workflows.Design and support integrations between web applications, cloud services, ecommerce platforms, and enterprise/business systems.Work with REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, queues, authentication, and secure service identities.Support PostgreSQL, Redis, monitoring, alerting, production incidents, and root-cause analysis.Own areas including DNS, domains, certificates, redirects, secrets management, access controls, and application security.Partner directly with engineering, marketing, customer-facing teams, and business application owners to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions. What We’re Looking For 6+ years of experience across platform engineering, DevOps, cloud engineering, software engineering, systems integration, or a combination of these areas.Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions or similar tooling, and Docker.Development experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and Node.js.Experience building or integrating REST and/or GraphQL APIs.Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.Comfortable troubleshooting problems across application, cloud, network, database, security, and third-party systems.Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Someone who enjoys taking end-to-end ownership rather than working within a narrowly defined engineering silo. Particularly Relevant Experience Any of the following would be advantageous: React or Next.jsHeadless CMS platformsPostgreSQL and RedisEcommerce or Shopify integrationsERP or enterprise-system integrationsTerraform or BicepPowerShell, Bash, or PythonAzure Application Insights or similar observability platformsDNS, TLS, CDN, WAF, and web application securityAI-enabled application development using Azure/OpenAI technologiesAerospace, manufacturing, industrial, automotive, medical device, or other reliability-critical environments Why Consider It? The attraction of this role is the breadth of ownership. Rather than being responsible for one infrastructure layer or one application component, you’ll have visibility across the entire environment — from customer-facing software through cloud infrastructure and into the enterprise systems behind it. You’ll be joining a long-established engineering and manufacturing organization whose physical products are used globally, while helping modernize and strengthen the digital platforms supporting its customers and operations. This should suit an engineer who enjoys being close to the technology, solving problems end-to-end, and having a visible impact on how an engineering organization operates.
