Azure Platform Engineer The Azure Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing Microsoft Azure platform services to provide a secure, scalable, and resilient cloud foundation for the organisation. The role ensures platform reliability, security, governance, and operational excellence through automation, Infrastructure as Code, and standardized cloud services. Acting as a key liaison between operations, architects, security teams, and application owners, the engineer translates business and technical requirements into enterprise-grade Azure platform capabilities. All Azure resources, configurations, and platform services must be deployed and managed exclusively through Terraform and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring consistency, compliance, and repeatability across all environments. Responsibilities Design, implement, operate, and continuously improve the Microsoft Azure platform, ensuring a secure, scalable, and resilient cloud foundation for application and product teams.Deploy, manage, and maintain Azure infrastructure and platform services using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), ensuring all resources are fully automated, version-controlled, and reproducible. Develop and maintain Azure Landing Zones, governance frameworks, platform standards, and reusable cloud services aligned with enterprise architecture principles. Monitor platform health, performance, availability, security, and cost efficiency while performing troubleshooting, patching, capacity management, and lifecycle management activities. Collaborate with cloud architects, security teams, DevOps teams, and application owners to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable cloud services. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, GitOps practices, automation frameworks, and platform engineering capabilities to improve operational efficiency and consistency. Manage and optimize Azure networking, connectivity, private access patterns, DNS, and hybrid integration services between Azure and enterprise environments. Ensure compliance with security, governance, backup, disaster recovery, regulatory, and operational standards across the Azure platform. Manage Azure identity, authentication, authorization, RBAC, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Managed Identities, and identity governance controls. Operate and maintain core Azure platform services including networking, storage, compute, container platforms, monitoring, security services, and platform management tooling. Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, documentation, self-service capabilities, and platform engineering best practices. Support incidents, problems, changes, service requests, and root cause investigations while maintaining agreed service levels and operational excellence. Provide technical guidance and enablement to engineering teams consuming Azure platform services. Enforce the principle that all Azure deployments, configurations, and modifications are performed exclusively through Terraform and approved CI/CD deployment pipelines, with no manual changes permitted in production environments.Promote cloud security best practices, Zero Trust principles, and operational resilience across the Azure estate.
