Highlights

End-to-end product engineering role with substantial autonomy, direct CTO mentorship, ownership from idea through customer delivery, and the opportunity to shape products based on real user feedback.

Description

This is a full-stack role for a builder. You'll pick up a rough idea and see it all the way through: shaping what it should actually be, building it, and getting it in front of customers, and continuing to own it once it's live, reacting to feedback and polishing as you learn what's actually working. That means working across the stack as the problem demands, making real calls under ambiguity instead of waiting for a spec, and being accountable for the outcome you're building toward. You don't need to know everything on day one to do this. The CTO will mentor you directly as you grow into full ownership. About Focus Tiger Focus Tiger is an award-winning, neuroscience-based app, built on University of Helsinki research, that helps individuals and teams build stronger focus habits, protect their mental health, and get more done, through short daily lessons and mini-tools delivered via Slack and Teams, backed by an organizational dashboard. More about the product: https://focustiger.io/product/. We're five years old, bootstrapped, and have been profitable since year one. In 2025, we had over €1M in sales, with real ambitions to grow much bigger from here. Focus Tiger's product team is small and agile, with experience building products for millions of users at companies like Wolt and Yousician. How we build We use AI heavily. Almost all of our code is written by AI under human direction, and you'll get fluent at that fast: directing it well, reviewing it critically, and knowing when to override it. That shift changes what we actually need from an engineer. Less time typing syntax, more time reasoning about whether a system does the right thing. Concretely, that means: You look past the happy path to edge cases and failure modes, and reason about what a system does under real conditions. You can tell good architecture from bad, including in code you didn't write line by line, and push back on it when it's wrong. You debug from first principles: form a hypothesis, test it, narrow it down, rather than guessing and poking. Stack Backend is Python and FastAPI, frontend is Next.js. Prior expertise in either isn't required. What matters more is the fundamentals above: those transfer regardless of stack, and the stack itself you can pick up on the job. What we're looking for A builder: someone comfortable working full stack, backend, frontend, and the monitoring, observability, and infra ops around it, when the problem calls for it. No fixed years-of-experience bar. What matters to us is the fundamentals above and real ownership instinct, regardless of what your last job title was. You'll probably feel most at home here if you're genuinely curious about focus, attention, and how people work best: it's the whole problem we're building for. We're a startup. We change direction quickly when we learn something new, and we iterate fast rather than planning everything up front. If you need a stable, fully-specced backlog to do your best work, this isn't the place. Compensation & logistics €3,000–5,000/month gross depending on experience, with the possibility of stock options. Full-time. We work hybrid, one to two days a week at our office at Maria01 Startup Hub, so you'll need to already be based near Helsinki. We don't offer visa sponsorship or relocation support. Working language is English. We're filling this role as soon as we find the right fit, not on a fixed timeline, so if this sounds like you, don't wait to apply. To apply Apply on LinkedIn, and include: - A short video (2–3 minutes, a Loom or unlisted YouTube link is fine) introducing yourself and why this role. - A link to your GitHub profile or something you've built. We’ll check both before anything else. Questions? Contact jerry@focustiger.io.
