Our challenge:
We are seeking an experienced Java Full Stack Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications and enterprise software solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong backend expertise in Java and Spring Boot, hands-on experience with microservices and event-driven architectures, and the ability to collaborate effectively with frontend, QA, product, and DevOps teams.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.
In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $90k - $95k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring BootBuild and maintain microservices architectures, ensuring scalability, resilience, and maintainabilityImplement event-driven communication and data streaming using Apache KafkaDesign and optimize data access layers using JPA/Hibernate and write efficient, well-structured SQL queriesDevelop and maintain unit tests and integration tests (e.g., JUnit, Mockito) to ensure code quality and reliabilityCollaborate with frontend developers to integrate backend services with UI componentsParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture decisionsTroubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance across the stackWork closely with product managers, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver features within Agile/Scrum sprintsContribute to CI/CD pipelines and support deployment processesDocument technical designs, APIs, and system architecture
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Proven experience as a Java Developer, Full Stack Developer, or similar software engineering role.Strong proficiency in Java, including object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, multithreading, and modern Java features.Hands-on experience developing applications using Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.Strong understanding of microservices architecture, service communication, resiliency, and distributed systems.Practical experience with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, offsets, and consumer groups.Experience with JPA/Hibernate and relational databases.Strong SQL skills, including query optimization, joins, indexing, transactions, and database design concepts.Experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, and related testing frameworks.Understanding of frontend development concepts and experience integrating backend services with frontend applications.Experience with Git and source-control workflows.
Preferred, but not required:
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployment.Experience with API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.Familiarity with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Amazon SQS.
