Senior Frontend Developer - Shopify

As a Senior Frontend Developer in our Shopify Team, you will be part of the Platform Solutions Unit, working closely with backend developers, solution architects, project managers, and specialists across adjacent disciplines. Your primary focus will be theme-based Shopify frontend development, where you will take both hands-on implementation responsibility and senior ownership of frontend workstreams across projects. This is not only about building features. It is also about making sound technical decisions, structuring solutions for long-term maintainability, and helping ensure high standards in frontend delivery across the Shopify Team. In senior capacity, you are expected to take ownership of your area, collaborate directly with clients when relevant, and help drive work forward from scoping to delivery. Your Responsibilities You will take a senior role in designing, building, and advising on frontend solutions for Shopify-based ecommerce platforms. This includes both hands-on development and technical ownership across projects. Designing, building, and maintaining high-quality storefront solutions on ShopifyDeveloping and extending Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, and TypeScriptTaking ownership of frontend workstreams across new and existing client projectsTranslating design, business, and user requirements into performant and maintainable frontend solutionsCollaborating closely with backend developers on integrated functionality and custom frontend requirementsAdvising on the best approach for theme customizations, reusable components, and frontend architecture within ShopifyTaking part in client dialogue to provide qualified technical sparring on frontend-related decisionsSupporting solution scoping and estimation together with developers, project managers, and solution architectsMaking informed technical trade-offs and communicating them clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersActing as a quality gate through code reviews, sparring, and shared standards across frontend deliveryContributing to reusable patterns, best practices, and continuous improvement within the Shopify Team Your day-to-day tasks will include Building and maintaining Shopify storefront features and theme customizationsImplementing sections, templates, components, and content structures in ShopifyWriting clean, well-structured, and maintainable frontend codeCollaborating closely with designers and specialists to ensure strong implementation qualityDebugging frontend issues across browsers, devices, and environmentsReviewing code from other developers and contributing to shared frontend standardsWorking closely with backend developers, architects, and project managers on solution design and deliverySupporting QA, regression validation, and release readiness across projectsParticipating in technical workshops and internal sparring sessions when scoping or refining solutionsHelping ensure that delivered solutions are stable, scalable, and maintainable over time We expect that… You have 5+ years of experience working with frontend development for ecommerce platformsYou have solid experience with Shopify frontend developmentYou are confident working with Liquid, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS/SCSSYou are comfortable taking technical ownership and leading frontend workstreams on projectsYou can translate business and design requirements into clear technical solutions and executable tasksYou work in a structured, pragmatic way and follow initiatives from idea to productionYou communicate confidently in spoken and written English.
