Full-Stack Product Engineer, Unjumble Sydney, 2 days a week in the office, the rest remote. Unjumble is an Australian hyper-local freelance marketplace building for the future of work. Every year, $183 million leaves Australia for offshore freelance work, while brilliant local talent gets buried on page 10 of the 'Big Gig' platforms. We’re building the antidote. The nature of work, how people are getting hired and how people are working together is changing and Unjumble is built to fill that gap. We’re streamlining modern workflows, making it as simple to brief and pay freelancers as it is to prompt AI. To do that, we need a builder who cares just as much about how a product looks, feels, and flows as they do about the backend logic. We’ve already got 750+ local freelancers signed up on the platform and work moving through. We’re looking for an engineer who can own features end-to-end and sweats the details. We are not interested in padding our roadmap with features for the sake of it, our big focus is dialing in the core product. What the job actually is A combination of refining core product and bringing new features to market. As a small team, we need an end-to-end engineer who can take a feature from UI design through to backend implementation and ship it, without relying on tickets every step of the way.Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, Postgres, Go.Think about what we're building and why. Not just "does this work" but "how does this feel for a business owner posting their first gig, or a freelancer waiting on a stage to be signed off."Care about the behavioural side. Why a business freezes at a blank budget field, why a progress bar changes whether someone finishes, why "Retainer" scares people and "Ongoing help, billed monthly" doesn't. We run the funnels, read the drop-offs, and change the product because of them. You'd be in that loop, not downstream of it.Build with AI tools. We'll want to see your process: how you prompt, what you hand the tools versus keep for yourself, and how you check the output. You don't need to be an expert, but you have to catch when it's wrong, sloppy, or solving the wrong problem.Report directly to the founder, and work closely with our technical lead driving AI product development. Short loops, real ownership. Who we're after Full stack across what we use. Comfortable in TypeScript and Go, comfortable with Postgres, comfortable being the person who finishes the job.Experience building AI tools into your workflowReal product sense. You've got opinions about how things should feel, and you can back them up.You care about the customer's experience more than the feature count.Proficiency in back-end web development and software development, including building and maintaining APIs and database-driven applications.Solid understanding of web architecture, security best practices, performance optimisation, and responsive design.Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and automated testing.Ability to collaborate effectively in a small, product-focused team and communicate technical concepts clearly.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.Bonus: marketplace or payments experience, Stripe, or you've freelanced before.
