VBA / MS Access Developer Overview We are seeking an experienced VBA / MS Access Developer to support, maintain, and enhance a suite of established business-critical applications. The role is focused on ensuring the stability, performance, and usability of legacy systems while providing technical support to end users and business stakeholders. This position would suit someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with mature technology stacks, and maintaining applications that continue to deliver significant business value. Key Responsibilities Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for existing business applications.Maintain, enhance, and optimise Microsoft Access and Excel-based solutions with a strong emphasis on VBA development.Work closely with business stakeholders to investigate issues, understand requirements, and deliver practical solutions.Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems within legacy environments that may have limited documentation.Debug, improve, and maintain VBA code, database structures, SQL queries, and application performance.Produce and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, and best practice guidelines.Contribute to the long-term stability and continuous improvement of existing systems.Required Experience & Skills Strong commercial experience developing and supporting applications using VBA.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel, with particularly strong Access experience considered highly advantageous.Good understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and SQL.Experience supporting and maintaining legacy applications and business-critical systems.Proven ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex issues in environments with limited documentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify practical solutions within existing technical constraints.Experience working with large datasets and optimising application performance.Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Professional level English communication skills.Desirable Skills Experience with Python development or automation.Exposure to HTML and web-based technologies.Experience modernising or integrating legacy applications with newer technologies.Technical Environment Microsoft AccessMicrosoft ExcelVisual Basic for Applications (VBA)Microsoft SQL ServerSQLIdeal Candidate You will be a proactive and detail-oriented developer with a strong background in VBA development and legacy application support.
