DevOps & Systems Administrator

We’re Hiring: DevOps & Systems Administrator dot.jo is looking for an experienced DevOps & Systems Administrator to join our technical team in Amman. You will take ownership of the infrastructure behind our websites, mobile APIs, enterprise platforms, and high-availability environments, working closely with our development and project teams. Key Responsibilities • Manage Linux-based production, staging, and development servers • Provision, configure, secure, monitor, and maintain cloud and dedicated infrastructure • Manage Hetzner Cloud and Hetzner dedicated servers • Design and maintain High Availability architectures, load balancing, redundancy, and failover • Configure and manage Nginx and Apache web servers • Configure and optimize PHP and Laravel production environments • Manage MySQL and MariaDB databases, replication, backup, recovery, and performance • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows • Implement secure deployment, rollback, and zero-downtime deployment procedures • Manage Docker-based environments and containerized services • Configure and manage Cloudflare, including DNS, CDN, SSL, WAF, caching, security rules, and DDoS protection • Manage domains, DNS records, SSL/TLS certificates, and related infrastructure • Implement server hardening, firewall policies, SSH security, access controls, and least-privilege policies • Securely manage production credentials, environment variables, secrets, and permissions • Monitor server availability, CPU, memory, storage, network, databases, application services, and overall infrastructure health • Implement centralized monitoring, alerting, and logging • Investigate and resolve downtime, infrastructure incidents, deployment failures, and performance issues • Establish automated backup strategies for databases, applications, configurations, and critical files • Perform and document regular backup restoration tests • Develop and maintain Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity procedures • Perform operating system updates, security patches, vulnerability remediation, and scheduled infrastructure maintenance • Manage Laravel queues, schedulers, cron jobs, Redis, workers, and related production services • Optimize infrastructure for performance, scalability, security, and availability • Plan and execute infrastructure migrations between servers, environments, and cloud providers • Maintain technical documentation covering infrastructure architecture, deployments, configurations, backup procedures, monitoring, and recovery processes • Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for critical production environments • Work closely with developers to troubleshoot application, API, database, networking, and server-related issues Required Technical Skills • Strong Linux administration experience, especially Ubuntu • Strong experience with Hetzner Cloud and dedicated infrastructure • Strong experience managing production Laravel and PHP applications • Nginx and Apache • MySQL and MariaDB • Redis • Cloudflare • Docker • Git • CI/CD pipelines • GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent • Bash scripting • DNS and SSL/TLS • Firewalls and network security • Linux and server hardening • Backup and disaster recovery • Monitoring, alerting, and logging • Load balancing and High Availability architecture • Infrastructure and application performance troubleshooting Preferred Qualifications • 4+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Linux System Administration, Cloud Infrastructure, or a similar role • Experience managing multiple production websites and applications simultaneously • Experience supporting enterprise and high-traffic digital platforms • Experience with banking, government, media, healthcare, or other business-critical environments is a strong advantage • Experience designing and operating 99.9%+ availability environments • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation • Terraform and/or Ansible experience is a strong advantage • Kubernetes experience is an advantage • AWS, Azure, or other cloud platform experience is an advantage • HAProxy or similar load-balancing experience is an advantage • Experience with centralized monitoring and logging platforms • Good understanding of OWASP security practices and web application infrastructure security • Experience with vulnerability management, security scanning, and infrastructure audits What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who takes full ownership of infrastructure. You should be comfortable receiving a new project and independently planning its production architecture, provisioning the infrastructure, securing the environment, deploying the application, implementing monitoring and backups, documenting the setup, and supporting it after launch. You should have a strong troubleshooting mindset and be comfortable handling production incidents where response time and technical decisions matter. Production stability, security, performance, documentation, backup integrity, and recovery readiness are core responsibilities of this position.
