Work at the intersection of software engineering, data, and infrastructure on large-scale, business-critical platforms. The role focuses on automation, reliability, observability, incident prevention, and solving complex production problems while collaborating with technical specialists.
Description
Python Engineer / Data SRE – Sydney
Location: Sydney
Core skills: Python, SQL, Linux, Data, SRE
Are you a Python Developer who enjoys solving production problems, a Data Engineer interested in platform reliability, or an SRE who prefers building over manual operations?
We’re hiring for multiple roles in Sydney, all sitting at the intersection of software engineering, data and infrastructure.
The common thread is simple: using Python, SQL and Linux to build the automation, tooling and monitoring that keep large-scale data platforms reliable.
What you could work on:
Building Python tooling and automationImproving the reliability, performance and observability of data platformsMonitoring production systems and troubleshooting complex issuesStrengthening alerting, recovery and incident preventionWorking closely with engineers, researchers and tradersEvolving business-critical platforms operating at significant scale
Depending on the role, you could work with Kafka, Kubernetes, Airflow, Databricks, HDFS and cloud platforms.
You don’t need experience across all of them.
You could come from:
Python or backend development, with production experience and an SRE mindsetData engineering, with genuine ownership of platform reliabilitySRE or production engineering, with strong coding and automation skills
The key is that you can build as well as operate: debugging live systems, identifying the root cause of failures and engineering solutions that prevent them from recurring.
These opportunities offer highly technical environments, direct exposure to trading and research, strong earning potential and the chance to work alongside some of the best engineers in the market.
Trading experience isn’t essential.
Strong engineering fundamentals, production awareness and an interest in reliable data systems matter more.
If your background sits somewhere between Python, data and SRE, I’d be keen to hear from you.
