Role Description The Cloud Engineer role at PurePlay Cloud is a full-time, on-site position based in Gold Coast, QLD.
This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure on AWS.
Day-to-day tasks include building and managing infrastructure-as-code deployments, administering Linux-based systems, configuring databases, and supporting application teams with cloud-native architectures.
The Cloud Engineer will collaborate closely with consultants and clients to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance and costs, and contribute to modernization initiatives across workloads and environments.
The role also involves documenting solutions, improving operational processes, and participating in continuous improvement of tools and practices.
Qualifications
Strong Cloud Computing and Infrastructure skills, including hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure-as-code tools.Solid Linux and Databases capabilities, with experience administering Linux systems and managing relational or NoSQL databases in production environments.Practical Software Development skills, such as scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Bash, or similar) to automate deployment, monitoring, and operations.Experience with networking concepts, security best practices, and monitoring/logging tools in cloud environments.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.Ability to work collaboratively on-site with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) are highly beneficial.Familiarity with modernization approaches such as containerization, microservices, or serverless architectures is an advantage.
