Senior Frontend UI Developer (React/TypeScript)

Frontend UI Developer, React / TypeScript A leading global investment firm is looking for an exceptional Frontend UI Developer to join an engineering group supporting its Equities business. This is not a traditional frontend position. You’ll build sophisticated, highly interactive applications used by investment and engineering teams to understand performance, risk, positions and market information in real time. The engineering challenges sit at the intersection of complex financial data, distributed systems and modern UI development. Applications need to make enormous amounts of rapidly changing information intuitive, responsive and actionable. You’ll work closely with quantitative researchers, portfolio teams and backend engineers, with significant ownership over both the technical architecture and user experience. What they’re looking for: • Expert-level React and TypeScript experience • Strong JavaScript fundamentals and understanding of browser performance • Experience building complex, data-intensive web applications • Strong knowledge of state management, component architecture and frontend system design • Experience with visualization, charting, grids or other highly interactive UI tooling • Ability to work closely with sophisticated technical users and translate complex requirements into elegant interfaces • Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals Engineers coming from high-performance technology companies, developer tooling, data infrastructure, fintech or similarly demanding environments are particularly relevant. No previous financial markets experience is required. The firm operates at significant scale, invests heavily in engineering and gives developers direct exposure to the users and problems their software supports. Compensation can reach $850k (base up to $400k with guaranteed bonus on top) for exceptional candidates, depending on experience and level. New York City. Full-time.
