Description

Senior - Lead Platform Engineer | AWS / CI/CD Sydney | Hybrid, 2 days per week We’re working with a confidential client looking for a hands-on Lead Platform Engineer to take ownership of a major CI/CD modernisation program. This is roughly 60% engineering / 40% leadership, leading a small Platform Engineering team while remaining genuinely hands-on. You could already be a Lead, or this could be a great opportunity to step into your first formal Lead role. The role: You’ll help modernise how approximately 170 active services are deployed across a multi-region AWS environment, moving away from a legacy CI/CD model. You’ll be responsible for: Leading the CI/CD migration and modernisationBuilding and improving production deployment pipelinesAWS deployments across Lambda, ECS/Fargate and EC2Canary / blue-green deployments and automated rollbackImproving deployment reliability and developer experienceLeading and mentoring a small Platform Engineering teamBuilding reusable pipelines, templates and self-service tooling The two key requirements are: - Strong AWS experience - Deep hands-on CI/CD / deployment engineering experience GitLab CI is the current environment and ideal, but not essential. Strong experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Octopus, Azure DevOps or similar will also be considered. If you’re currently a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer who has already been unofficially leading projects, mentoring engineers, setting technical direction or acting as the go-to person in your team, but haven’t yet been given the title, we’d be very interested in speaking with you. You don’t need years of formal people-management experience. You do need to be technically strong, comfortable leading others and genuinely want to take that next step. If you’ve owned CI/CD or deployment modernisation in a production AWS environment, I’d be keen to speak.
