Role Overview The SAS Administrator / Kubernetes Operations Engineer is responsible for managing SAS environments (SAS Viya / SAS 9.4), orchestrating containerized workloads on Kubernetes, and ensuring stable, secure, and high‑performance analytics operations. The role blends platform administration, DevOps practices, and operational governance within enterprise data environments. This position is strictly open to Emirati Nationals , supporting national workforce development and compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities Administer and maintain SAS Viya (3.x/4.x) and SAS 9.4 environments, including configuration, upgrades, patching, and user management. Manage Kubernetes clusters: Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets, RBAC, Helm charts, Storage classes, Networking policies . Oversee container lifecycle management using Docker and Kubernetes-native tooling. Perform Linux/Unix administration , shell scripting, and automation of operational tasks. Support SAS ETL operations using SAS DI Studio and SAS Management Console . Implement monitoring dashboards and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk . Conduct performance tuning, troubleshooting, log analysis, and root cause investigations. Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures for SAS and Kubernetes environments. Ensure SLA compliance, operational governance, and continuous improvement of SOC/MSS processes. Prepare customer-facing operational reports and maintain clear communication with stakeholders. Support resource planning, shift management, and act as an escalation point for technical teams. Collaborate with cloud teams for deployments and integrations across AWS, Azure, or GCP . Requirements Required Skills & Knowledge Strong hands-on experience with SAS Viya (3.x/4.x) and/or SAS 9.4 Administration . Solid understanding of Kubernetes operations , including RBAC, Helm, networking, storage, and workload orchestration. Proficiency with Docker and container lifecycle management. Strong Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting capabilities. Experience with SAS ETL tools (DI Studio, Management Console). Familiarity with monitoring stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk . Good knowledge of SQL and databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Vertica, etc. Experience with troubleshooting, performance tuning, and DR/backup strategies. Exposure to cloud platforms ( AWS, Azure, GCP ) is preferred. Preferred Skills Experience with Terraform , Ansible , or other IaC/automation tools. Certifications such as CKA , CKAD , or SAS administration credentials. Understanding of enterprise security, SOC/MSS operations, and operational governance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field. 3–6 years of experience in SAS administration, Kubernetes operations, or DevOps engineering roles.
