Highlights

End-to-end ownership of features, an AI-first engineering workflow, modern cloud infrastructure, automated testing, and lean async-first collaboration.

Description

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer on one of our new AI-native squads, you will own entire features from database to UI. Our stack runs on AWS with PHP/Laravel and Node.js/NestJS powering the backend services, and React with TypeScript on the frontend. You will be expected to leverage AI coding assistants, automated testing tools, and generative AI workflows as core parts of your daily process—not as occasional novelties. What You Will Be Responsible For Own and deliver features end-to-end across the full stack (backend services, APIs, frontend interfaces, and data layers)Design, build, and operate production systems in a payroll domain where correctness and reliability are non-negotiableUse AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as a daily force multiplier for writing, reviewing, and refactoring codeWrite and maintain automated tests with AI-assisted generation, aiming for high coverage with minimal manual effortParticipate in lean team rituals: async-first communication, lightweight code reviews, and continuous deploymentCollaborate closely with product and design in a small squad to scope, estimate, and prioritize workContribute to defining and evolving our AI-augmented engineering practices and toolchainTake shared ownership of operational concerns: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and on-call rotations Must-haves What We Are Looking For 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with meaningful exposure to both backend (PHP or Node.js) and frontend (React/TypeScript) developmentStrong proficiency in our core stack: PHP/Laravel and/or Node.js/NestJS on the backend, React with TypeScript on the frontend Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, relational databases, and API design (REST or GraphQL)Demonstrated comfort with AI-assisted development workflows—you already use AI tools regularly and can articulate how they change your processStrong fundamentals in testing: you know when to write a unit test, an integration test, or lean on AI-generated test suitesExcellent async written communication—you document decisions, write clear PRs, and can drive alignment without meetingsOwnership mindset: you do not wait for someone else to write the migration, fix the flaky test, or update the runbook Nice-to-haves Experience in payroll, HR tech, or fintech domains where precision and compliance matterFamiliarity with prompt engineering, AI agent frameworks, or building LLM-powered features into productsExperience migrating or integrating between PHP/Laravel and Node.js/NestJS servicesExperience working in small, high-autonomy teams (startups, platform teams, or similar)Background in QA or testing automation—understanding quality from first principlesContributions to developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, or internal platform improvements Why This Role Is Different We are not adding “AI” to a job title for marketing purposes. We are restructuring our entire engineering organization around a thesis: small teams of strong fullstack engineers, deeply integrated with AI tools, can outperform larger traditional teams in speed, quality, and developer satisfaction. What This Means In Practice You will not hand off work to a separate QA team—you own quality, aided by AI-powered testing and code reviewYou will not wait on a backend engineer to build your API—you build the whole featureYou will have real input into the tools and workflows the team adopts—this transformation is being built collaborativelyYou will work in a team of 2–3, not 5+, which means less coordination overhead and more building time
