Senior Software Engineer/Developer (Key Personnel) Position Overview The Senior Software Engineer/Developer will lead hands-on front-end and server-side development for Congress.gov and Congress.gov Admin Tools, delivering fully tested, usable code each sprint in accordance with the Library's Agile SCRUM methodology. Position Title Senior Software Engineer/Developer (Key Personnel) Minimum Qualifications Professional experience in Agile Methodology and sprint-based software delivery.Proficiency in PHP (Symfony) and Python (Django framework).Working knowledge of Angular and Node.Demonstrated experience developing against MySQL, MongoDB, Solr, and Oracle database platforms.Professional experience in Java and RabbitMQ-based messaging architectures.Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.Demonstrated experience developing public-facing search, browse, and content display features.Experience contributing to legislative data ETL or API development a plus. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience. Clearance and Citizenship Requirements Clearance: Ability to pass a Library of Congress personnel suitability review/background check. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States. Location: Remote Technical Environment Languages/Frameworks: PHP (Symfony), Python (Django), Angular, Node, Java, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3, AJAX.Search/Database: Solr, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB.Messaging: RabbitMQ, Celery.Release Management: Jenkins, SVN, Open Deploy, Jira, Confluence.Testing: Selenium, Postman API, Playwright, Lighthouse/Neoload. Duties and Responsibilities Develop front-end and server-side code for Congress.gov public search, item detail, and section landing pages, and related legislative content areas.Deliver fully tested, usable code at the conclusion of each three-week sprint.Contribute to Congress.gov Admin Tools and Text Analysis Program (TAP) development under Task 2, including data manager functions and system infrastructure items.Participate in stand-up meetings, User Story creation sessions, backlog grooming, and sprint retrospectives.Check in code to the repository and support unit and functional testing per sprint acceptance criteria.Collaborate with Library SMEs, testers, the User Experience Designer, Project Manager, and Product Owners.Support onboarding and transition activities during the initial sprint, and closeout/transition support during the final one-week sprint.
