Software & Startup Intern

Accoladi | Nashville, Tennessee For currently enrolled students | 10–15 hours per week | 10–12 weeks Unpaid educational internship; furnished housing and meals provided ABOUT ACCOLADI Accoladi is building technology that connects students, educators, recruiters, and school districts across music and the performing arts. We are a hands-on startup team developing web applications, cloud infrastructure, payment systems, and integrations that support multiple user groups and products. We are looking for a curious, resourceful college or university student who wants to learn how a company and its technology are built from the ground up while earning academic credit. You will work in person with the CEO and team in Nashville and receive direct mentorship, regular feedback, and exposure to both technical and business decisions. This internship is designed to connect with the student's degree program, coursework, and learning objectives. Accoladi will work with the student's school or university to complete reasonable internship agreements, learning plans, supervisor evaluations, and other documentation required for credit. Academic credit is awarded solely by the student's institution, so applicants should confirm eligibility with their academic advisor or internship office. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND WORK ON Under close supervision, you will: • Conduct structured web research on markets, products, technologies, competitors, and potential partners, then turn your findings into clear summaries. • Help create wireframes, prototypes, and supervised website features using modern front-end tools. • Learn how front-end applications connect to APIs, databases, authentication systems, and cloud services. • Pair with team members on non-production AWS tasks, technical documentation, testing, and deployment workflows. • Assist with supervised test-mode integrations involving Stripe and other third-party platforms. • Participate in code reviews, product discussions, quality assurance, documentation, and weekly learning demonstrations. • Observe and contribute to early-stage company building, including product discovery, customer research, prioritization, and team operations. The internship is designed to complement the work of the team and provide educational benefit. Intern projects will be selected for their learning value and will not replace the work of regular employees. TECHNOLOGIES YOU MAY ENCOUNTER You do not need to know all of these before applying: • Languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS/SCSS, and SQL • Front end: Angular, React, Next.js, Vite, Tailwind CSS, PrimeNG, and Bootstrap • Back end: Django, Django REST Framework, REST APIs, WebSockets, and Node.js/Express • Data and background processing: PostgreSQL, Redis, and Celery • Cloud and DevOps: AWS ECS, S3, Amplify, Lambda, DynamoDB, SES, CDK, Terraform, Docker, and GitHub Actions • Integrations and tools: Stripe, Firebase, DocuSeal, PostHog, and other third-party APIs • Testing and code quality: Pytest, Ruff, Jasmine/Karma, and Vitest WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR • Current enrollment at a college or university in computer science, software engineering, information systems, design, business, or a related field. • Eligibility to receive internship or experiential-learning credit through your school or university. • Willingness to coordinate with your academic advisor or internship office before the internship begins. • Basic familiarity with at least one programming language and a willingness to learn across the stack. • Strong internet research, writing, organization, and problem-solving skills. • Comfort asking questions, receiving feedback, and working closely with a small team. • Good judgment with confidential information, credentials, customer data, and financial systems. • Ability to participate in person in Nashville for the agreed internship period. WHAT THE PROGRAM PROVIDES • Direct mentorship from the CEO and team. • A written learning plan, weekly instruction, code review, and project feedback. • Practical exposure to startup strategy, software development, cloud infrastructure, and third-party integrations. • A schedule designed around academic commitments. • A learning plan connected to your academic program, plus school-required supervisor check-ins and evaluations. • Reasonable cooperation with your institution's internship paperwork and academic-credit requirements. • Furnished housing and meals in Nashville during the internship period, with arrangements documented separately in writing. IMPORTANT INTERNSHIP TERMS This is an unpaid educational internship with no expectation of cash wages and no promise or entitlement to a paid position afterward. Its duration is limited to the period in which it provides beneficial learning.
