Description
Hi there!
💻 Please note: While this position is officially marked as Hybrid with a location in Slovenia, the work is FULLY REMOTE with occasional visit to Ljubljana office.
This is to ensure we’re connecting with the right talent in our region — applications from outside the Balkan region, unfortunately, cannot be considered.
We’re looking for a Senior DevOps / Cloud Architect to take ownership of our cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
This is a hands-on role that combines day-to-day infrastructure work with architectural decision-making — you’ll manage and improve existing production environments while shaping how we build and deploy new projects from scratch.
You’ll be the go-to person for all things infrastructure.
You’ll work closely with our development teams, ensuring our systems are reliable, secure, cost-efficient, and easy to deploy to.
This role suits someone who enjoys both the strategic side of cloud architecture and the satisfaction of a clean CI/CD pipeline.
Tech experience we are looking for:
Our development teams work primarily with Ruby on Rails, PHP (Laravel), and Node.js.
You don’t need to be a developer in these, but understanding how these applications are built, configured, and deployed will help you design the right infrastructure and CI/CD workflows around them.
On the infrastructure side, AWS is our primary cloud (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch), with GCP used specifically for our data warehouse (BigQuery).
For smaller or frontend-heavy projects we also use platforms like Vercel.
We manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, run CI/CD through GitHub Actions and CircleCI, and are building out observability with Datadog and CloudWatch.
5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure roles.Strong AWS expertise — hands-on experience with EC2, ECS, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and related services.GCP familiarity — particularly BigQuery and the data warehouse side of things.Terraform proficiency — you’ve written and maintained real-world Terraform codebases, not just tutorials.CI/CD pipeline design — experience building deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar.Linux administration — you’re comfortable in the terminal, debugging services, reading logs, and writing scripts.Networking and DNS — VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancers, DNS management, SSL/TLS — you understand how traffic flows and how domains are configured.Email and external services — experience setting up and managing transactional email (SES, SendGrid, etc.), CDNs, caching layers, and the third-party services web applications typically rely on.Security mindset — you think about access controls, encryption, and compliance as part of the architecture, not an afterthought.Monitoring and observability — experience setting up and using monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.Clear communication — you’ll be working with development teams who rely on you.
You can explain infrastructure decisions without jargon when needed.
Nice things to have on top:
Experience with Ansible or other configuration management tools.Familiarity with Datadog for monitoring and observability.Experience with container orchestration beyond ECS (Kubernetes / EKS).Background in cost optimization strategies — reserved instances, savings plans, spot instances.Contributions to internal developer platforms or self-service tooling for dev teams.
What we had in mind for you:
Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure — primarily on AWS (EC2, ECS, and supporting services), with GCP used for our data warehouse (BigQuery), and platforms like Vercel for smaller projects.Manage and improve existing projects — understand current setups, identify areas for improvement, and raise the bar over time.Standardize infrastructure as code — we use Terraform for parts of our infra today, but not everything.
You’ll drive the shift toward fully codified, reproducible environments.Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that give development teams fast, reliable, and safe paths to production.Implement and enforce security best practices — access controls, secret management, vulnerability scanning, compliance posture.Monitor, alert, and optimize — set up and maintain observability across our services.
Work with developers to diagnose performance issues and keep systems healthy.Manage cloud costs — track spend, right-size resources, identify waste, and make sure we’re getting value from what we run.Manage external services and integrations — set up and maintain email delivery (SES, SendGrid, or similar), DNS, CDNs, SSL certificates, third-party APIs, and other services that web applications depend on in production.Architect new projects from the ground up — as new projects come in, you’ll design the infrastructure, choose the right services, and set up environments from scratch.
