Platform Engineer Technology Division Workplace: ITV White City, London (Hybrid Working) Salary Range: £50,000 - £60,000 Perm full time The team As a DevOps / Platform Engineer in the Common Platform you are part of two teams, firstly embedded in a team within our Streaming business area working out of our London office. The Streaming team is focused on delivering our content to our customers through our online platform and in particular our exciting and innovative ITVX product. You will also be part of the wider Common Platform team, ensuring that best practice, capabilities and tooling are shared across the embedded Platform Engineers. As a Platform Engineer you will have the support of this wider team including platform engineers within various areas of the ITV business. The Common Platform takes the best of open source, cloud native and SaaS tooling, and packages it in highly automated, easy to deploy template architectures and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns. The embedded engineer is responsible for supporting the team they are embedded into with the design and implementation of the team's infrastructure use cases, upgrades to the platform, troubleshooting problems and coaching your software developer colleagues in their use of AWS. The role Implementing IaC with Terraform and utilising functions of the Common PlatformWorking within Streaming to prioritise work for upgrades and business delivery and supporting engineers with deployment and production issuesReviewing and approving pull requests from engineers in Streaming to support deployment of new infrastructure, permission changes and accessMaintaining and supporting infrastructure for Streaming including the Common Platform Infrastructure e.g. PrometheusManaging upgrades of the Kubernetes deployments in AWSDefining and designing the infrastructure for the future - whether this be for a new application or re-design of an existing applicationSharing best practice within the Common Platform team and contributing back ideas, improvements and designs Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria) Knowledge and proven experience of secure cloud practices, and building highly performance and scalable cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS)Knowledge and proven experience of Infrastructure as Code technologies (ideally Terraform) and using and implementing version control strategies with these technologiesKnowledge and proven experience of containerisation and deploying container workloads, ideally on KubernetesKnowledge and proven experience with Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration patterns and platforms e.g. Jenkins, GitHub actions etcKnowledge and proven experience with monitoring and alerting toolsKnowledge and proven experience responding to production incidents to diagnose and resolve issues related to the infrastructure supporting the services Other things we’re looking for (key criteria) Knowledge and proven experience in cloud cost optimisation and balancing this with resilient infrastructure needsKnowledge and proven experience with in depth knowledge of Linux (Centos, Amazon Linux 2)Knowledge and experience working within an Agile delivery methodologyStrong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback, and receive constructive feedback for improvements (particularly an ability to show constructive design and code collaboration e.g. PR reviews)Passionate to work within a team structure and build relationships with multiple teams (Embedded team and Common Platform)Able to travel to London twice a week to collaborate with the wider Common Platform team and your embedded team in LondonExperience and knowledge of Kubernetes and management tools such as helm
