As a key part of our platform engineering organization, the Application Services team is responsible for crafting platform-wide, business-agnostic capabilities and essential building blocks like secret management, service discovery, and a feature flag framework. What You Will Do As a Java engineer working on Application Services, you’ll have the opportunity to work on the building blocks of a highly available, distributed payment platform. You will Develop foundational applications that almost every other engineering team builds into their servicesDrive medium-sized development projects where you collaborate with other engineers and sync with stakeholdersWork with a product manager and other engineers to find out what common capabilities other teams need for their business applicationsDesign and evolve APIs that will be used by engineers across the company, partnering with them to identify pain points, opportunities, and areas for improvementArchitect resilient solutions that span multiple data centers, ensuring our platform remains highly available and performantManage deployment and monitoring of live applications, track key metrics to optimize performance and availabilityResearch how other engineers within Adyen use and interact with your workMentor junior team members Requirements 5+ years of backend software development experienceProficiency in Java and solid JVM understandingExperience working with Postgres or similar relational databasesProficiency with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring toolsA good understanding of distributed systemsA product-oriented approach to software developmentWillingness to operate, deploy, and troubleshoot applications in a live production environment Bonus points for Experience working with large scale distributed systems Familiarity with security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data encryptionWorking knowledge of secret management tools, service discovery or feature flagging frameworksExperience building internal products and services for other engineers as part of a platform team with focus on autonomy Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives.
