About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer.
The Team’s mission is to create a seamless and fully predictable passenger flow at Schiphol, with minimal waiting times.
The team develops smart digital products, data platforms, APIs, and operational services that help balance passenger demand and airport capacity.
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the data and software platform powering passenger timeslot services.
You will develop and maintain backend applications, APIs and data-intensive services that support operational decision-making at Schiphol.
You will work closely with Product Owners, Data Scientists and other engineers to translate business requirements into reliable, scalable and production-ready solutions.
Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain Python backend services and REST APIs for internal and external consumers.Build and maintain reliable data integrations and data pipelines supporting the team's products and operational processes.Deploy, monitor, and operate applications in production environments using Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes/OpenShift.Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and continuous improvement.Collaborate with Data Scientists to productionize data models, machine-learning models, and data products.Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality, and software engineering standards.Develop reliable solutions for data-intensive and operationally critical environments.Work closely with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
Qualifications
HBO-level education or equivalent experience.
Required Skills
Strong experience in Python backend development.Strong experience developing REST APIs.Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.Experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL.Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.Experience deploying and operating applications in production environments.Experience with production monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.Experience building data-intensive platforms and/or APIs consumed by external users or systems.Experience with CI/CD and Git-based development workflows.Strong software engineering and problem-solving mindset.Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
