Join the heart of Adyen’s Platform Engineering With over 100 engineering teams contributing to our ecosystem, Platform Engineering provides the foundations that enable Adyen to grow reliably. We deliver shared components that help teams build secure, reliable, and high-performing products and services. The Application Services team develops platform-wide, business-agnostic capabilities such as secret management, service discovery, and feature flagging. We address a broad variety of company-wide challenges, from modernizing internally developed infrastructure and adopting proven industry standards to raising security standards across Adyen. Our work includes initiatives such as migrating workloads from Nomad to Kubernetes and exploring migration paths from established technologies toward modern application runtimes and frameworks. We design safe adoption strategies that allow teams to modernize without disrupting business-critical services. As a Senior Java Engineer, You Will Lead the design and delivery of foundational services used by engineering teams across AdyenDrive complex, cross-team initiatives from problem discovery through production adoptionPartner with product managers and engineers to identify shared platform needs and define prioritiesDesign and evolve APIs, including compatibility, migration, and adoption strategiesArchitect resilient solutions spanning multiple data centersOwn the deployment, observability, operation, and continuous improvement of live servicesGather and use developer feedback to improve the reliability, usability, and adoption of platform servicesMentor engineers and raise technical standards within the team Requirements 7+ years of backend software development experienceProficiency in Java and a strong understanding of the JVMExperience working with Postgres or similar relational databasesExperience with CI/CD, observability, performance analysis, and incident responseAbility to lead ambiguous technical initiatives involving multiple teamsProven experience designing and operating distributed systemsA product-oriented approach to software developmentWillingness to operate, deploy, and troubleshoot applications in a live production environment Bonus points for Experience with large-scale, multi-region, or mission-critical systemsKnowledge of authentication, authorization, encryption, and other security practicesExperience building internal platforms focused on developer autonomyExperience leading platform migrations or driving adoption across a large engineering organization Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives.
